  Jack Petchey Foundation

Jack Petchey Co-ordinator: James Marsh

The Jack Petchey Foundation was established in 1999 by the successful East London entrepreneur, Jack Petchey. It is a young, progressive grant making Trust based in Ilford Essex. It is now among the largest and most influential London charitable foundations. It focuses on projects and programmes that benefit 11-25 year olds.  Jack Petchey wants the Achievement Awards scheme to recognise “extreme endeavour and to help people to help themselves”.

The Jack Petchey Foundation's flagship programme is its Achievement Award scheme – a reward and recognition initiative which enables schools and youth organisations to celebrate the achievements of their young people as well as receive additional funding.

What is the Silver Scheme Achievement Award?

Sutton Little League is entered into the Silver Award Scheme through 6 monthly awards per year with each award being worth £250.

The scheme will enable Sutton Little League to recognise the effort, endeavour and achievement of young people in a practical and positive way.

SLL will also be able to nominate an adult helper to win the Jack Petchey Foundation Leader Award which will allow us to apply for a small grant to develop a specific project with young people.

How it works:

Each month, through a nomination and voting process, we will select one young person to receive an Achievement Award.

Each winner receives a framed certificate, badge and £250 which is to be spent for the benefit of the league (based on a wish list which is created by the players, managers and officials of the league).

Cheques, frames, certificates etc. are provided by the Jack Petchey Foundation.

A young person or adult must not receive more than one award during their time at SLL. The award should be given to ONE person.  It  cannot be a joint or group award.

How to Nominate:

Nominations must be received by around the 10th of every month.

WhatsApp your nominations to James Marsh.

Every nomination must include:

  • The name of the person you wish to nominate

  • The name of the person making the nomination

  • Whether you are a player, manager, parent etc

  • The reason for your nomination

  • Please remember: To win an award the nominee must be aged between 11 – 25.  They do not need to be the cleverest, the fastest or the best looking!  But they need to be exceptionally hard working or have done something really positive for other people.

Once all the nominations have been received the details will be put on the website.

How to Vote:

Each team has one vote. Each month your manager should discuss with you the name of the person your team is nominating. If you want to nominate someone, make sure you let your manager know. Your manager will need to advise your decision to our Jack Petchey Co-rdinator, James Marsh, around the 10th day of the month so that the presentation to the winner can take place the following Saturday.

Winners will receive:

A framed certificate & badge

Membership to the JPF Achievers community

£250 to be spent on something of their choice that will benefit SLL.

At an annual awards ceremony they will receive a boxed Achievement

Award Medallion. The winners name will also be posted on

the SLL website.
