Remembrance Weekend – Lest We Forget

This Saturday, Sutton Little League will come together to remember, reflect and pay our respects to those who have served and sacrificed their lives in times of conflict.
As we approach Remembrance Day on Wednesday 11th November, we invite all members of the Sutton Little League community to join us in observing a one-minute silence before the kick-off of every fixture this Saturday, 7th November 2026.
This moment of reflection is an opportunity for our players, parents, team managers, assistant managers, match officials, volunteers and spectators to stand together in unity, gratitude and respect.
⚽ Arrangements for the One-Minute Silence
To ensure that this tribute is observed respectfully and consistently across all our fixtures, we ask everyone to follow these arrangements:
Before each kick-off, both teams and their match officials & team managers / assistants should gather around the centre circle.
All parents, spectators and volunteers are encouraged to stand quietly and respectfully on the sidelines.
The referee will signal the beginning of the one-minute silence with their whistle.
Everyone should remain silent for the full 60 seconds (we understand this will be harder with younger children, so please try to explain to them what the silence means).
The referee will signal the end of the silence with a second whistle, after which teams can kick-off.
More Than Just a Minute
Remembrance is about more than looking back. It is about recognising the courage, service and sacrifice of those who came before us, while helping future generations understand the importance of peace, respect and remembrance.
At Sutton Little League, we believe football has a unique ability to bring people together.
This Saturday, regardless of the teams we represent or the result on the pitch, we will stand united as one football community.
"At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them."
We thank everyone across Sutton Little League for joining us in this important act of remembrance and for helping our young players understand why we continue to remember.
We Will Remember Them.
Lest We Forget.
