As we blow the whistle for the first half of the season we wanted to take this opportunity to look back over the football that we have seen so far!
Before we do that, we want to wish each and every single player, parent, family member, manager, assistant, committee member and anyone else that is involved at Sutton Little League a fantastic festive period and we hope that you all enjoy your celebrations over the break!
We are back on the 17th January for all divisions apart from the Inters that will return the week after due to pitch maintenance.
Rascals Division
Games: 48
Goals: 151
The Rascals Division has enjoyed a fantastic season so far, with a huge number of new players taking their first steps into organised football and quickly settling into the rhythm of playing on a weekly basis. The enthusiasm, energy, and enjoyment on display each week has been brilliant to see and is exactly what this division is all about.
Although the Rascals division remains non-competitive, it’s hard not to acknowledge the impressive consistency shown by the Vulcans, who have lost just one game all season and won every other fixture. More importantly, all teams have shown clear development in confidence, teamwork, and understanding of the game as the season has progressed.
There is no winner or runner-up for the first half of the season, and scores are not publicly advertised. However, from 17 January, the Cup phase of the season will begin, with results and scores published weekly on our website, adding an exciting new chapter to the Rascals’ football journey.
Bantams Division
Games: 43
Goals: 207
The Bantams Division has also got off to a superb start, showcasing a high standard of football alongside excellent sportsmanship and commitment from players, managers, and parents alike. Week after week, teams continue to grow in confidence and quality, making for an exciting and enjoyable division to watch.
While the division is non-competitive, special mention must go to the Cobras, who have remained unbeaten throughout the season outside of cup day tournaments. They’ve been closely matched by their biggest rivals, the Tigers, who themselves have lost just one game all season. If results were being tracked, the gap between the two would be incredibly tight — a real reflection of the strong competition and balance within the division.
As with Rascals, there is no winner or runner-up for the first half of the season, and scores are not publicly advertised. From 17 January, the Cup games will commence, with scores published weekly on our website, giving the Bantams an exciting opportunity to test themselves in a new format.
Juniors Division
Games: 38
Goals: 133
They say every game matters — and nowhere is that more true than in the Juniors Division this season. As we approach the end of the first half of the campaign, there are still four fixtures to be played, and the title race remains wide open.
The Ospreys currently sit at the top of the division, holding a narrow three-point advantage over the Eagles in second place. However, with the Eagles still having two games to play compared to the Ospreys’ one, the balance could yet swing. Adding to the excitement, the Hawks in third place also remain firmly in contention, with two games still to play and a maximum of six points available, leaving them mathematically capable of challenging for top spot with just a five-point gap to overcome.
Beyond the numbers, the Juniors Division has delivered some exceptionally close and competitive football, with matches often decided by the finest of margins. It has been particularly pleasing to see the players continue to develop week by week — growing in confidence, decision-making, and teamwork — making this one of the most engaging divisions to follow this season.
Juniors 1st Half of the Season

Inters Division
Games: 39
Goals: 165
We begin by congratulating the Hornets on winning the first half of the season. They produced a strong and consistent run of performances and, as the division tightened towards the closing stages, showed the resilience needed to capitalise on results elsewhere. Their efforts were rewarded as they finished six points clear of Rangers in second place.
Across the division, there has been some excellent football on display this season, with a high tempo and growing tactical awareness evident in many matches. However, this has at times been overshadowed by discipline challenges within the division, an area that will remain a key focus moving forward to ensure the standard of behaviour matches the quality of football being played.
With the second half of the season now underway, the competition remains as open as ever. Hotspurs have made a strong start and currently lead by two points, while Hornets sit in third place, level on points with Dynamos, Rangers, and Saints. With so many teams closely grouped together, there is everything still to play for as the season continues.
Inters 1st Half of the Season

Inters 2nd Half of the Season

Seniors Division
Games: 26
Goals: 140
We begin by congratulating the Romans on winning the first half of the season. Dropping just four points across the entire first half is an outstanding achievement and a testament to their consistency, organisation, and quality throughout the campaign.
Attention now turns to an exciting second half of the season, which is already underway. The Romans and Lions currently sit joint top on seven points, setting the stage for what could become a compelling two-horse race. However, with plenty of football still to be played, the chasing pack will be eager to close the gap and ensure the title race remains wide open.
Once again, the Seniors Division has showcased some fantastic football, with a high level of maturity, commitment, and understanding of the game on display. It has been particularly rewarding to see players continue their development at U16 level, highlighting the strong pathway and ongoing progression within Sutton Little League.

Seniors 2nd Half of the Season

Jack Petchey Award
So far this season, we are delighted to celebrate two recipients of the Jack Petchey Award, recognising individuals who truly embody the values of Sutton Little League by going above and beyond for their teams and the wider league.
Our congratulations go to Flynn Bowler, Manager of the Romans, and Jack Mann, a player from the Eagles (Juniors).
Both recipients were nominated by fellow managers, assistant managers, or committee members in recognition of their outstanding commitment, attitude, and positive impact on those around them.
Flynn, one of our young managers, consistently demonstrates exceptional encouragement, development, and support for every player he works with on a weekly basis. Alongside guiding the Romans to success in the first half of the Seniors Division, he approaches his role with enthusiasm and positivity, always leading by example — rain or shine — with a smile on his face.
Jack, a player for the Eagles, has shown exceptional strength of character and leadership throughout the season during a particularly challenging period in his personal life. At the start of the season, Jack’s father suffered a heart attack and required major surgery. Despite the emotional impact this had on him and his family, Jack did not miss a single training session or match. He continued to fully commit to his team, supporting and welcoming new and younger players, and was later appointed team captain in recognition of his attitude, resilience, and leadership.
Jack’s ability to put others first, remain positive, and lead by example during such a difficult time has been truly inspiring and reflects everything the Jack Petchey Award stands for.
We are also pleased to share that Jack’s dad, Brian, is now on the mend and, whenever possible, can be found at Royston Park supporting Jack and the rest of the Eagles. We send our very best wishes to Brian for a continued and full recovery.
Finally
To finish off, we wanted to once again thank everyone for their involvement throughout the season so far! We wish you all a very safe and enjoyable festive period and we will see you all back in January 2026 for much more football!
