Sutton Little League Remembers – A Weekend of Respect and Reflection 🌺

Lest We Forget. We Will Remember Them.

This Remembrance Weekend, Sutton Little League came together to pay tribute to the brave men and women who served, sacrificed and gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today.

Across all our divisions, we were incredibly proud to see our young footballers demonstrate such outstanding respect, maturity and understanding of the importance of Remembrance.

A Minute of Silence, A Moment of Reflection

Before each match kicked off, players, managers, referees and volunteers gathered around the centre circle to observe a minute’s silence, taking a moment away from the excitement of football to remember those who served our country.

The sight of our young players standing together in silence was a powerful reminder that Remembrance is not just about looking back at history, but about ensuring future generations understand the sacrifices made for them.

Wearing Our Poppies with Pride 🌺

Throughout the weekend, some of our players proudly wore poppies on their football shirts, displaying a symbol of remembrance, gratitude and respect.

Regardless of the teams they represented or the results on the pitch, every player was united by something far more important than football.

It was a wonderful demonstration of how sport can bring communities together and help teach our children the values of respect, unity, gratitude and remembrance.

Proud of Our Little League Family 💚

At Sutton Little League, we believe football is about much more than goals, results and league tables. It’s about developing young people, building character and teaching values that extend far beyond the football pitch.

We could not be prouder of every child who took part in this weekend’s tributes.

We would also like to thank our team managers, assistant managers, match officials, parents and volunteers for supporting the occasion and helping ensure that Remembrance was observed with the dignity and respect it deserves.

For over 52 years, Sutton Little League has been at the heart of our local community, and moments like these remind us why what we do is so special.

To all those who served, those who continue to serve, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice – thank you.

“At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.”
